Jenna’s Soft Girl Era

We couldn’t help but notice Jenna’s incredible transformation so we asked her to sit down with us for a little Q & A to learn how she did it and to celebrate her accomplishments.

What brought you to So Young Pilates?

I had started my weight loss journey about 6 months prior to giving So Young a call. I knew in order to reach my goals I needed to add physical activity to my routine, but I also knew that I didn’t want to sign up for another gym membership. A friend of mine was always posting about her journey to becoming an instructor at So Young Pilates, I quietly watched this for months – but knew that wherever this adorable little studio she was always posting about, is where I wanted to go! The studio is the perfect size, you instantly realize that this studio isn’t just another trend, but that what goes on here is deeply rooted in education.

How important was it for you to find a partnership with “your” instructor?

When I first spoke with So Young on the phone and she asked me what I was looking for, I remember being super honest with her and telling her that while I am a certified personal trainer, I have never done pilates before and it had been a long while since I stepped into a gym of any kind. I wanted someone that would make me work – but not kill me, I knew that if someone kicked my butt too hard from the very start, I would likely end up hating it and not commit to any long term life changing kind of routine. I wanted to be able to not only ‘do’ pilates, but to LEARN it too!! Starlene has become such an important part of my journey, she always shows up smiling ready to work with me, not just telling me what to do, but to challenge me and make me realize I can do more than I realize and at the same time see that there is still room for improvement and growth.

“Pilates has taught me how to be strong while remaining gentle.”

What does your current routine look like, and why does it feel doable now?

Currently my routine is to always take 1 class, but sometimes 2 classes a week and ALWAYS work 1-on-1 with Starlene once a week. It feels like a doable schedule for me because I’m always learning something new in a class, whether it’s a completely new series of movements or the way I’m breathing through a series of movements. In my 1-on-1 sessions I’m able to advance or perfect what I learned in class.

Beyond physical changes, what differences have you noticed in your day to day life?

I’m happier! In 2026 lingo I guess you could say I feel like I’ve entered my ‘soft girl’ era! It feels like pilates has taught me how to be strong while remaining gentle. I have more awareness of myself both physically and mentally. I definitely feel more of a mind-body connection now more than ever.

What surprised you most about this process?

What has surprised me the most is that I have been consistently showing up for classes and 1-on-1’s for over a year now and I have yet to get bored! I look forward to showing up to class and showing up to 1-on-1’s and always being challenged, I never feel like I’m not making progress or improvement.

Thank you, Jenna, for taking the time to share your journey with us and for being part of the So Young community.
